Children should say the sounds as they drive their toy train past the trees and then blend them together to read the word.
Railway track mats with the following words are provided (one word per mat):
•Decodable Words: see, too, for, now, will, them, look, this, that, with, then, down
•Tricky Words: he, me, we, be, my, you, was, her, all, are, she, they
Each word is also written on a train flashcard. These could be used for assessment purposes, a display or children could match them to the correct railway track mats. Ideally, the mats should be printed out on card and laminated for longevity.
